In our community, students will have daily opportunities to practice research-based, secular mindfulness. Mindfulness , as a component of our social-emotional curriculum, will allow time for reflection, self-regulation and awareness, intentional breathing and movement as well as a vehicle to increase focus while reducing the stresses and anxieties from the day. As a facilitator of this practice, I have been practicing on my own for years, and started this with my students explicitly in 2015- to which I saw extremely positive effects, so I continued to expand and deepen this practice with students each year. I have also led multiple mindfulness workshops with teachers and parents, as well as a summer mindfulness camp. I believe a mindful practice is crucial to the well-being of all humans, especially little humans. 💓.
